ABOUT US

Vision Ability is a Community Interest Company, founded and run by Visually Impaired people, for Visually Impaired people.

We are two non-sighted brothers with Learning Difficulties, Owais and Sahab Niaz, and alongside our close friend Luqmaan Shafique, who is also Visually Impaired, we established our organisation at the start of 2021.

Being British-Asian and having all been through our own journey of sight loss and managing our neurodiversity, we have lived experience of the challenges our peers face, particularly those living in East London.

With the help of our families and our community, we have overcome our Disabilities entirely. We are now fully functional members of our society, living  independently and in full-time employment.

Our mission is to:

- pass on the help and support we have received, to other Visually Impaired People

- increase disability awareness

- motivate our peers to reach their maximum potential, and

- help prevent Avoidable Blindness.

This is a picture of all three of our Directors, Luqmaan Shafique, Shahab Niaz and Owais Niaz, at Vision Ability’s stand at the Redbridge Disability Festival, in August 2023. The three of them are sitting behind a desk and there are various information leaflets regarding our organisation and our services. Luqmaan, sitting on the far left, is wearing a black shirt and sunglasses, Shahab in the middle is wearing a white short sleeved shirt and Owais on the right is wearing a light grey t-shirt.
